Key lessons I learned from Edwin Arroyave on how to adopt an unstoppable mindset.
“My dream was bigger than any excuse I could have ever given myself”- Edwin Arroyave.
For those of you who read my blog post last week, you may know that I’ve become hooked on the new Success Resources podcast. It is packed full of value, knowledge and insights from some pretty impressive and powerful guests.
Well, this week was no different as Jake Nicolle interviewed Edwin Arroyave, founder of Skyline Security (a professional service installation company for home security and automation). Oh, and for any of my fellow Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans? Edwin just happens to be married to Teddi Mellencamp who is a star on the hit series. Despite his humble and difficult beginnings, Edwin had a dream, and wasn’t going to let anyone, or anything, get in the way. In this episode, Edwin shares his incredible journey of losing everything and his rise to remarkable success.
There were some key lessons and learnings I took away from this insightful and powerful podcast which I’d like to share with you here:
LESSON 1: DREAM BIG
Edwin talks about the importance of having monster beliefs and monster dreams and goals. Edwin revealed that he would often skip classes in order to look at houses in Beverly Hills. He would look at the beautiful homes and the view and say to himself, “One day, I’m going to live here.”
LESSON 2: CREATE A NECESSITY LEVEL
In the podcast, Edwin talked about experiencing heightened necessity levels, for example quitting his job and having a strong sense of urgency to make money to support his family. When your sense of urgency increases, you have a heightened willingness which uncaps a tremendous amount of ability you never thought you had.
LESSON 3: PROBLEMS ARE PURPOSES
Life is a game and it comprises of a series of purposes. With purpose comes problems. The better you become at solving problems, the more successful you will become. Your goal is to solve the problem so that you can achieve ‘restricted freedom.’ Continue to better yourself each and every time.
LESSON 4: THE FOUR ‘F’S
“Nothing ever stays the same. You’re either getting better, or you’re getting worse.”- Edwin Arroyave
The four pillars in which Edwin continuously works on are:
- Fitness (body & mind)
Constantly look for ways in which you can improve and continue to work on yourself. The longer you go without working on yourself, the harder it will be to get back into it.
LESSON 5: THE POWER OF ASSOCIATIONS
Edwin talks about the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are doing better than you. It will make you set the bar even higher. Often, people who are doing better than you won’t want to hang out with you, because they’re essentially trying to do the same thing.
Edwin reveals that in order to combat this, you need to be obsessed with bettering yourself. You have to get away from people who are holding you back.
KEY LESSONS FROM EDWIN ARROYAVE ON HOW TO DEVELOP AN UNSTOPPABLE MINDSET
In the podcast episode, Edwin goes on to share information including his mindset, non-negotiables, daily routine and much, much more.
