My 5 Biggest Takeaways From Tony Robbins UPW

My 5 Biggest Takeaways from Tony Robbins UPW.

“Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life.” – Tony Robbins.

I’ve wanted to attend Tony Robbin’s Unleash The Power Within (UPW) for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve observed countless celebrities and world class performers attend the event. One thing I knew for sure was that if it was good enough for Oprah, it was going to be good enough for me..!

I finally had the opportunity to attend UPW in Sydney this past weekend. Whilst I had some idea what I was going to be stepping into – four days that ranged between 12-15 hours in duration and an arena full of 7500 individuals coming together in the spirt of becoming better, more empowered versions of themselves, I had no idea how much it would change me. I also didn’t realise just how much I needed the event and the impact it would have on me, until I experienced it first hand.

I am going to preface this article by saying this is one of the most challenging blog posts I’ve ever sat down to write. The reason for this is because UPW fundamentally shifted me in a way that is incredibly difficult to describe. If you have followed and consumed my content for a while, you would know that I regularly attend business, entrepreneurial and personal development events. UPW was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.

Here are my 5 biggest takeaways from the event:

In order to live an extraordinary life, you must learn how to master the art of getting into a beautiful state. To get into a beautiful state, there are five steps which are at the core of emotional fitness:

  1. Physiology is the Foundation of all Effective Change: If you want to change your state, you must first start by radically shifting your physiology. It is no coincidence that UPW is an incredibly active event full of dancing, jumping, singing and laughing. Every aspect of the event has been carefully constructed to ensure we were consistently in a beautiful state – and wanted to stay there.
  2. Focus = Feeling. Feeling is Life: There is a way to go beyond how you are programmed, and that is to program yourself. What is your focus? Do you focus on what you can or what you can’t control?
  3. Language / Meaning. Emotion is Life: Ask yourself, is this the beginning, or the end? Words have meaning, and the way you use and order words can fundamentally shift your state.
  4. Create a Compelling Future: Find a reason to use your skills and contribute towards a greater purpose.
  5. Identity is Everywhere: Identity shapes your choices. What you believe you are affects who you become.

Could you imagine 7500 individuals walking outside at 10pm at night chanting ‘YES, YES, YES’ and lining up to walk on fire? Well, that’s exactly what happened during night one of UPW. Part of this process involved getting into and staying in peak state – a critical aspect in ensuring that we didn’t get injured or hurt. Lining up to walk across scolding hot coals isn’t exactly something I’d normally sign up to – but I’m so proud of myself for doing it.

Once I took that first step, there was absolutely no turning back. The fire walk was an incredibly powerful way to acknowledge fear and move past it. If you can manage your emotions, you can master your life.

During the four days, Tony constantly reiterated to us that where focus goes, energy flows. When you trade expectations for appreciation, your whole life will change in that moment. When you start practicing this regularly, it becomes a habit. And once it becomes a habit, it becomes a different life.

On day three, transformation day, Tony took us through a journey to free our minds from our limiting self-beliefs. I am someone who has done a lot of work to overcome limiting self-beliefs, and yet I found this to be one of the most empowering and liberating experiences of my life. I realised that whilst I had done a lot of work on a conscious level, I had a number of limiting self-beliefs sitting at a sub-conscious level, unknowingly holding me back.

Understanding what these beliefs were, and doing the work to free myself of these thoughts has enabled me to prepare myself for this next phase of life. There is no passion living a life any capable than the one we are capable of living. This process was exactly what I needed to go through to ensure I live my life to it’s fullest potential and as my highest, truest self.

During UPW, I witnessed some incredible transformations right in front of my eyes. If you change the same old story you’ve been telling yourself, you can change your life. If you don’t change your story, you can’t change your life. Problems are designed to make us grow. If you are a victim, you’ll never make it in business or in life. Start asking yourself the question “why is this happening for me?” rather than “why is this happening to me?”

Everything in life happens for a deeper reason, and it’s our job to find out what that is.

My experience at UPW was beyond my wildest imagination. I have consumed Tony Robbin’s content for years. However, immersing myself in it for four days and nights was like nothing I’ve every experienced before. The fire walk enabled me to confront my fears head on. I let go of my limiting self-beliefs. I connected with some incredible humans in a really meaningful way. And finally, I unleashed the fire and power I always knew was inside of me.

I have come out of UPW with some incredible tools and strategies which I’ve already applied to my life. I know how to get myself into a beautiful state, to face my fears head on and take massive action towards my dreams and goals.
